 This page should serve as guidance for students when choosing their classes for majors, minors and certificates in the Art Department.

It is intended to remind students and advisors the course offerings and sequencing, but all students are advising to refer to the catalog for exact requirements.

Elective Requirements

Remember that there are additional course requirements for every major, minor or certificate. Including ART and ARTH electives.

  • GRPH 340: Advanced Typography (If you haven’t taken it)

Class of 2024 (Juniors)

  • ART 301: Professional Practices of Visual Arts*

    Offered every Spring Semester.

Class of 2025 (Sophomores)

  • GRPH 220: Design Foundations
    If you haven’t taken this course yet, you must take it this semester.
    Must have taken GRPH 201 already, or enrolled during the same semester.

  • GRPH 240: Typography*

  • ART 203: Flat & Solid Design
    Offered every Semester.

Class of 2026 (Freshmen)

  • GRPH 201: Software For Design*
    Offered every semester, but you need to complete by Freshmen year if possible because it is a prerequisite for all GRPH courses.

  • GRPH 220: Design Foundations
    You can take this course in Fall semester (Sophomore) semester and be “on track.”

  • ART 203: Flat & Solid Design
    Offered every Semester.

  • ART 101: Drawing I*
    Offered every semester, but complete within first three (3) semesters at MC

  • ART 102: Drawing II
    Offered every semester, but complete within first four (4) semesters at MC
